Dramatic Valentine’s Day Look – Extreme Eyeliner And Dark Blue Lips

Getting glammed up for Valentine’s day. Right this way. But first… confession time. This Sunday as I photographed this look I had absolutely no idea what I was going for. I knew I wanted to show you a very dramatic eye with my super favorite color right now: this extremely pigmented blue gloss that smells like cookies and you just want to eat it right away.

I had a mild case of pink eye. I struggled a bit with my make-up because unbeknownst to me, even a mild pink eye can get your eyes to water like crazy and everything stings and burns and you want the world to end because you have to do a perfect dramatic eye.

It all came crushing down when I wanted to add strips of false lashes. My eyes were watering like crazy. I’ve used a lot of q-tips. I had to resign myself on having flirty lashes. But then I thought, may be for the better. The very black eyeliner stands out more and the precise corners are in full display. Let me tell you, you will need a good, extremely precise and consistent eyeliner. Mine is from Sephora (it’s not tested on animals, yay!) and it elongates eyes like a dream.

I have very hooded eyelids with extra skin, so I had to go over them and elongate a lot more until it looked perfect. To set the eyeliner I used a black powder single eye shadow that had a bit of loose silver glitter in it. I achieved the long elongated line using tape on the corner of my eyes, following the natural curve of my under eye line. To avoid a raccoon eye don’t go overboard with a harsh under eye black line, just a touch of black to connect the upper corner to your lower eye corner. Use a very small slanted brush, I used my brow brush. I also contoured my cheeks and added lots of glitter on my cheeks, upper lip, tip of the nose and chin. You can skip this step, I’ve done it for photography purposes only, in real life that would be way too much. Under my blue gloss I’ve used a black eye pencil because although the gloss is pigmented, it is patchy. I needed something matte and dark underneath it. For my previous look using the blue gloss here I’ve used a dark navy pencil.

I don’t do pinks or reds, you can see my previous Valentine’s Day looks here and here, you’ll notice my preference for black or any other dark color. I don’t think we actually celebrated Valentine’s Day ever. Maybe a sushi dinner this year and after staying home with our cats. Buy you do you 🙂

I chose this super cute, very breathable off the shoulder top with floral embroidery that matches my lips and wore my Christmas gift from Mr. Casual Cat – vintage Burberry studs. Yes, I am also ready for Summer.
