How would you wear a beautiful scarf like this? Especially if it’s a Gaultier.
When I was 12-13 I used to spend my Summer breaks in my mother’s closet. Before I discovered my black/edgy self, before Brit Pop came into my life, before I would allow myself to become someone cool. I used to walk in her heels, listen to Celine and Mariah and read Danielle Steel romance novels. What can I say, those were the mid 90s. Before Britney came along and changed everything.
Because I was petite and none of my mother’s clothes would fit, I would try on her very high 80s heels and wear her many vintage scarfs. Now, thinking about it, I’m a little sad I didn’t manage to save them. I would wrap myself in beautiful and colorful garments, wear them as skirts, wrapping my whole tiny body and letting my legs loose. Legs and high heels. I thought I’ve discovered myself.
One of those vintage scarfs was a very beautiful long silk scarf, white with blue floral motifs. “So middle eastern“, I thought. Right about then I had a small bike and after many playful Summer days in the sun, managed to rip it on the bicycle chain.
Now I have a box full of scarfs and although most of the time I wear them around my neck, with this one here I had to change the game. I would have not been ok with myself if I didn’t give it a rock’n’roll vibe and style it accordingly. Excuse the Summer, but you can still wear black and rock your designer clothes if you want to. Leather and black for any rock’n’roll Summer night out. #rockchic inspo today.
