This is the third look of the Holiday Series I’m doing on the blog. Previous Holiday Looks here and here.
‘Tis the season to be jolly, Fa, la, la, la, la, la ,la. That was the song that haunted my ears as I went Christmas shopping last Saturday. I met with my good friend Diana and had some girly fun, as you will see in the photos we snapped, going to the mall. If we were living in the States we would be the perfect Valley Girls. Ha, ha. We first stopped for some coffee to get the courage to actually enter the mall and navigate through masses and masses of people moving like ants from shop to shop to… well, shop. That’s Christmas for you.
Before I get to my very red, christmasy outfit that matched perfectly the red cups at Starbucks, I feel the need to say something first: I like Christmas shopping, but I like it in very minimal doses. It’s bad enough that we live in a consumerism age, and buy and buy (now on Christmas more than ever) things we don’t need, it really isn’t necessary to add more and more stuff thinking things will make us happy. Psychology has a whole chapter on this if you’re interested. Having said that, it does warm my heart to buy small gifts for my loved ones: my boyfriend, his mum, my parents, my brother and his girlfriend. I prefer to shop online but if there is no other way I will visit the physical shops. I can relax for two hours and browse through pretty things.
