Fashion Tips For People That Wear Glasses

People that wear glasses often struggle with their style. They don’t know how to match their glasses to their outfit and they worry that they are ruining their look. But glasses can look amazing as long as you know how to style them properly.

If you really hate your glasses, you could consider wearing contact lenses instead, but they can be very uncomfortable to wear. Instead of giving up on your glasses completely, you should just learn how to wear them in the right way. Most people don’t think of their glasses as a part of their outfit and that’s where they go wrong. They should be considered in the same way as any other accessory, like your earrings or your bag. If you don’t like the way that your glasses look, try some of these great style tips to match them to your outfit.

Invest In The Right Glasses

Choosing the right glasses is the first step, but many people don’t put enough thought into it. They think of them as a purely practical item, so they don’t consider style when picking their glasses. But there are plenty of styles out there that look much better than a boring pair of black glasses. You should pick something popular but classic, so they match with a lot of different outfits. If you go for something that is too brightly colored or has a lot of bold patterns, it may clash with certain outfits.

When you are choosing a pair of glasses, it’s important that you consider your face shape and find frames that work for you. For example, if you have a relatively round face, you don’t want to go for round frames because it will exacerbate the shape of your face. Your glasses will look a lot better if you go for square frames. In most cases, it’s best to go for frames that are the opposite of your face shape. If you have an oval shaped face, you have more freedom to experiment with different styles because most shapes will suit you.

Choose Jewelry Carefully

When you are accessorizing the rest of your outfit, it’s important that you consider your glasses, especially when choosing jewelry. If you wear large dangly earrings, they will compete with your glasses and make your face look very cluttered. When there’s too much going on, it can quickly ruin your look, so you have to be conservative when choosing earrings. Don’t skip them entirely, but go for some small studs over large earrings.

When choosing other jewelry, it’s important that you consider the metals and match them to your glasses. If you have tortoiseshell glasses, for example, gold jewelry works well. However, if you have silver or clear glasses, it’s best to stick with silver jewelry. When you wear black glasses, you have a lot more choice because all materials will match well with it.

Avoid Large Hats

Hats are a great accessory, but you have to be careful with them when you wear glasses. A large hat paired with some glasses will look very crowded. Glasses already cover a large part of your face, so you don’t want to wear a large floppy hat that covers up the rest. You can still wear hats with glasses but you need to stick to smaller styles that sit away from the face, like a fedora with a stiff brim.

Even large hair accessories can be too much when you are wearing glasses, so it’s best to go for a simple barrette instead of an elaborate hair piece.

Get Your Make-Up Right

Many people with glasses don’t know how they should do their makeup. If you do it as you normally would without glasses on, it won’t look good because you need to take the glasses into account and adjust your makeup routine to accommodate them.

You need to be particularly careful with your eye makeup because your glasses will magnify them. That means that anything too bold will take all of the focus when magnified and make your eyes look much bigger than they are. It’s always best to go for something less in your face, like a navy eyeliner instead of a deep black. Similarly, opt for a lighter eye shadow and don’t apply it too heavily. Pick colors that accent your eyes but be careful to avoid anything that highlights them too much because your glasses are already doing that.

When using a concealer, you should always focus on the areas of the face just around where the frames sit. Using a liquid concealer over a cream one is best because thick creams can pile up around the nose where your glasses sit.

Mascara can be tricky to get right when you are wearing glasses. If you apply it too heavily and your lashes are too long, they will poke against the inside of your glasses, which is very annoying. You also need to make sure that the eyes aren’t too dark and heavy, so a light touch with your mascara is very important. Apply your first coat as normal but on the second coat, just apply a bit at the base and pull the brush away rather than pulling through the lashes. This will frame your eyes and give the lashes a bit of color without making them too dark.

There are a lot of rules and compromises that you need to make with your makeup when you are wearing glasses, but when it comes to lipstick, you have the freedom to do whatever you like. The glasses take up the majority of the top half of your face and it’s important that you balance it out with the bottom of your face, so it’s always a good idea to go bold with your lipstick. Match the color with the rest of your outfit as you normally would, and go for darker shades if possible because that extra burst of color makes a big difference.

Choose The Right Hairstyle

Choosing the perfect hairstyle to wear with glasses is important and it all depends on the shape of the glasses. If you have rectangular frames, you should avoid bangs at all costs. They look best with shorter styles, like a bob. Round frames look equally as good with long or short hair, so you have a lot of flexibility. Ponytails and loose braids are great if you wear thick framed glasses.

Bangs can look great with most styles of glasses, apart from rectangular frames, but only if they are done well. When you get your hair cut and styled, it’s important that you find a stylist that does a good job of the bangs and takes your glasses into account. Hairstyles with a straight fringe work better than one that is combed to the side. The hair should sit just past the top edge of the glasses. If the bangs are too long, this can overshadow the glasses and look messy. It can also come underneath the glasses and get in your eyes, so make sure that you get the length right.

People often worry about how they look with their glasses, but if you want to look great and be able to see at the same time, you need to embrace your glasses. Don’t think of the glasses as something that you put on after you’ve sorted the rest of your outfit, think of them as an accessory like any other. If you follow all of the tips on this list, you can make your glasses look amazing.
