Locorotondo

June 22, 2019

Just 10 minutes away from Alberobello (by bus) is a little village so wonderful and so delightful: Locorotondo (“Round Place“).  Its small, narrow streets are so romantic and full of wonder. A new favourite place began to take shape, a serendipitous find, of all of Apulia.

How wonderful to get lost somewhere where you can easily be found. Its historical center has just a few streets and this small village is the least stomped by tourists.

Locorotondo is also the best place to eat local, fresh and traditional Italian. It was where we ate best. Where? La Taverna del Duca. Should’t be hard to find: on a narrow street, buildings all white, a few tables outside. I had the ragù – a meat-based sauce that is commonly served with pasta. The pasta? Orecchiette – a pasta typical of Southern Italy.

More of this newly discovered stone jewel in the photos below.

p.s. The getting back to Bari from Locorotondo was a switch between a train and a bus. We jumped in a bus that took us to a train station in Putignano and that took us back to Bari.

As always,
